The port for Rome is quite a distance from the city. We arrived at our Hotel, Le Grand Minerva, near the Pantheon and within walking distance to many sites. Dropped off our luggage and walked up to the Vatican. Many people had the same idea and the line to get into the Vatican Museums was around two blocks. We had time to burn so we stuck it out. Once inside, you could spend a week admiring all the artwork and relics. We were able to view the Sistine Chapel painted by Michelangelo between 1508 and 1512. Absolutely amazing. You arent' allowed to take pictures, but I held my camera pointed up without the flash and captured one. After the museums, we walked the streets a bit more and grabbed a bite at a small cafe.
