Cara and I have been together for 14 years and are celebrating our 10th year anniversary in May 2016. We planned a trip to Europe that included a 7 night cruise in the French and Italian Rivieras along with a few days to enjoy Barcelona before the cruise and Rome after. It was the first time we have been away from the kids for more than a few days.

After a few flight glitches, we arrived in Barcelona at our hotel, the Negresco Princessa near Placa de Catalunya. The hotel is located in the heart of the city allowing us to walk to many great areas. We headed down to the Gothic region and Las Ramblas, a large open street area with tons of shops and people. We meandered through the streets and alleys and stumbled upon a little restaurant to try the tapas. The house wine and tapas were amazing and we continued on our trek. We arrived at the statue of Christopher Columbus at the bottom of Las Ramblas with a sprinkle of rain. The rain didn't damped our spirits, but provided a nice rainbow behind the statue. Our first night, we walked to Tapas 24 for a fabulous meal of tapas, beer and wine. A wonderful finale for all the trials and tribulations of travel.
