Hunter Mountain was quite beautiful and offered expansive views of the valley below. We saw a few springs along the way and the pass can be closed in the winter and spring due to snow or wet, muddy conditions. Slippery large ruts would make this very challenging if it was wet. The ecosystem also changed with the elevation as we now were in an evergreen forest above the dry desert below. We continued down the mountain and stopped by an abandoned mine we camped at four years ago. The road then meets back up at Teakettle Junction for a complete loop. Back past Ubehebe crater, to Oriental Wash and back to camp at Gold Point. It was a long driving day, but we made it back to camp before sundown to relax.

After dinner, we spent some time in the saloon with the kids as they wanted to 'play poker'. After the kids were down, the adults played enjoyed some beverages and played some cards as well.
